Event kickoff

Judging Criteria

  • a. Does the idea serve one of the Sustainable Development Goals or Deep Tech related?
  • b. Importance of the Idea. How significant is the solution to the problem that is solving?
  • c. Business Value. Does the idea bring value to a specific market? Or solve a specific problem in a market? Does it make money? Is the business model clear?
  • d. Realistic Capability. The three days aside, how realistic is the technology to be put into production?
  • e. Innovation and Creativity. How is the solution different from the other existing technologies? Are there any elements of creativity in prototype created?

Opening ceremony

Event kickoff, idea pitching with speeches by organizers, sponsors, and keynote speakers.

17:00-18:00

Pitching ideas

In this session, all accepted idea owners will pitch their ideas by using power points or any other preferred presentation.

18:00- 21:00

Team building

In this session, applicants will connect with idea owners to form groups.

21:00 ~

Team Work/ Mentors’ Time

After team building the groups start working on building their prototypes or talk to mentors based on their availabilities.

11:00-12:00

Workshop

In this session, multiple trainings, and workshops are prepared for the students participants to make them ready for their final pitch and founding their startup.

16:00 - 17:00

Deadline for first submission

It is time for the participants to submit their first draft of business plan and documentation of their project based on the guidelines provided. This document will be reviewed by judges and will have a big role in their final decision.

Deadline for second submission

This will be the final submission of the ideas that will later be used to help the participants in founding their business or making their idea into reality if possible.

16:00- 18:00

Closing Ceremony

In this session, each group will present their final pitch, and judges will select the best three ideas to be awarded. This will be followed by closing speech by organizers.

19:00-20:00

Networking

Different topics will be discussed with the attendance of all stakeholders of the event.

20:00 ~

Press conference

Various national and international media will be invited to cover the event and ask their final questions to participants, organizers, sponsors, judges and mentors.

Can I sleep during the three days?

You can take rest or sleep.

Do I have to pay for attending the event?

If you have an idea or you want to join a group to work on an idea, you should register as a participant, which is free of charge

How can I apply to be a volunteer?

Email us at career@csffco.com with the email subject “Hackathon Volunteering”

How many team players are in a group? Is it fixed?

A minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 5 members can be in a group.

Are there prizes for 2nd and 3rd places?

We have three different prizes that are awarded based on different criteria.

Can I participate individually?

You need to participate as a part of a team of 3-5 members. But you can register individually and find your teammates during the event.

Is there a specific technology (programming language/API/OS) to be used?

The teams are given the liberty to use any technology as they wish.

Can teams prepare beforehand with their idea?

Teams can have an idea or it can be a startup already but it should be at the early stages of development.

Can I still participate if I don’t have any programming skills? If yes, what are the challenges that I might face?

Yes, you can. And you can join teams that need your specialization, skills or qualifications depending on the team’s idea.

Is there translation help for Japanese nationals?

Our team can help with basic needs. While in order to form teams, talking to other participants, presenting, you need to speak English.

What is the language of the event?

English is the official language of the event.

I live outside of Japan, can I still apply?

Yes, you can. The event is international and everyone can attend.
